Of all my 26 years of life, this got to be the most interesting sunrise I had ever seen at my house. But yet I did not take out my H1 to take it down. Now every morning I will look out of the window looking for the same thing to happen but it's not there anymore. Darn! I should have went to work a bit later but catch this moment with my H1 instead of my camera phone.
Life is full of opportunities, don't let them pass by like I did.
THE morning light
So now, after missing that chance of a lifetime, I've learnt to grab my H1 to take down photos when the opportunity arises. So here's some more recent collections.
Red clouds, it's as if the sky is on fire or is this a living hell?
Red clouds closer up... this looks like those evil scenes in movies.

Speech day wasn't such a good event for photos because I'm not officially appointed to do it and unlike Sports day, this is a more serious event. I can imagine the P thinking "who the f*** is that shooting us with his camera" if I took photos of him and the guest of honour inspecting the contingent during the parade. So I'm pretty restricted in terms of photo taking opportunities. Besides, H1 is not meant for low light shooting which means it is pretty useless for the indoor concert.

NPCC girls doing sizing and forming up their contingent
After a while they got sick of me taking photos so I took this while hiding behind potted plants. Just kidding!
Speech Day Proper
The angles I'm restricted to during the parade. Plus plenty of very important heads to avoid too. Here's NCC marching.

Took a couple of minutes to figure out how to do this one. Here's a more "natural" tone to our newest addition to the "family."

Meet caterpillar, the newest member of the family who lives right at the corridor in front of the main door. (I need a macro lens). This young caterpillar measures just about 1cm by my estimation.

The colours seem a bit weird, at least to me, cause I'm using indoor lamps and have yet to find time to fine tune the colours. But that's how to get the nice dark background. (Note to self: Need another lamp for macro work.) It's getting late you know and I need to go sleep soon. Got work tomorrow. (14 more working days to go, yippee).

I got this shot that was underexposed for the faces and I want to bring the smiles out. Here's my feeble attempt to retify the problem. Which one you like best?
Original.
Fixed shadows & highlights, can see faces but looks fake to me.
Sepia mood for the shot.

First time doing sports photography with my H1. Did manage to get a few more satisfying shots for sports but the rest were rather disappointing. I could have did more for the interval treat (cheerleading dance) but I wasn't ready for it and didn't get the best angle. Anyway, here's some of the photos I took today that turned out fine.
Getting ready for the run
Focus is the key to success
Burst in fire when you run
Pass on the spirit to your team mates
Give Gold a Shot
Time to Go Home
I'm rather disappointed with the photos today. I was too engrossed in capturing the actions that I forgot the more important photos that I can take. The winning/losing emotions on the sportsmen, the concentration in their face, the taste of victory or the agony of defeat. I missed most of that. Could have done better.

Yes, that was the comment I got from my friend when I told him about the experience I'm going through now. Pretty old school eh.. And that explains why it's been some time since I last brought my H1 out for some shots. So I can only get my satisfaction by reading how great H1 is... Almost everybody who bought one found it value for money. There's even a comparison shot for H1 and 20D, a high end dSLR.
Hopefully I can get to put my H1 in good use soon... 4 more weeks of practicum...
