As part of our training, we had to go to ITE College East (In Tampines) for a half day visit. Oh boy did the government throw in tons of money in the place. It looks more like ITE College Mall than a post secondary technical school. I'm impressed but at the same time wonder if it is necessary to be so extravagant to have these state of the art designer style campus?

I've heard of on job training at workplace but ITE is about bringing the workplace environment to the classroom.
Even the canteen is food court style. This is the drink stall.
They charge me 70 cents for this drink but student/staff get them for 50 cents only. Darn!
Nowadays, all the signboard for food court are in English.

What I also noticed in ITE college east is that they monitor student's attendance via ez-link card. And there are many stations around the campus for students to scan their cards. I wonder the effectiveness of such methods and the costs in building this system. Could this be another implementation of IT for the sake of IT like the driving centre case for booking of theory tests? This I won't know.
