Just got to learn about the new system they implemented since I got my driving license. Found it confusing so wanted to share the new system for a driving school located at the west. (Note, this is for private students)After Before
1.) Go to Traffic Police counter
2.) Book theory test and pay for test at counter
3.) Go take the test Before After
1.) Go to Information counter to collect a specific form for Private students
2.) Complete the form (if you got private instructor, please write down his/her NRIC number too)
3.) Return the form to counter and get a queue number.
4.) Wait for your number to be called.
5.) Open an account with the driving school at $5.25 valid for only 6 months and if you lose your account password you need to pay penalty of $10.50 to reset password.
6.) Queue at the self paying booth to top-up money to your newly created account like topping up your ezlink card or cash card.
7.) Go to the computer terminal to log in your account and check available test dates yourself
8.) Book your test date and pay for it using the money top-up earlier (make sure you got the funds inside if not repeat step 6.
9.) After booking test date go to printing station to log in and print your booking statement.
10.) Go take the test
Note to self, need to find out how to get refund for unused credits in account.
So did we "simplify" matters using IT and cut "costs" at the same time? Who are the winners for all these computerisation? I think the answer is obvious. Consumers got pwned. Especially the uncle there who got stuck at step 2 because he had problems completing an English form.
