Didn't think the DJs could write this themselve. And certainly google directed me to the answer here. Anyway, it's an interesting and meaningful article that I thought of sharing with you too.
My Less than Accurate English Translation
Once upon a time, there was this lady who gets angry and frustrated easily. She could not get along with her friends and neighbours and thought that she had to do something to change her temper.singapore Story radio 933 anger
One day, her good friend adviced her to look for a enlightened monk in a temple on the southern hill to help her with her temper.
So, this lady went to look for the monk and to seek his advice. "Master, why do I get angry and frustrated easily?" The monk smiled and replied "Oh, lady, please follow me. The monk brought the lady to a small store room and invited the lady into the room. Just when the lady stepped into the store room, the monk stepped out quickly, locked the door and left. The lady was furious and cursed the monk. "Let me out! Why are you locking me inside!", she shouted.
The lady was locked in the room for 2 hours before the monk came back to see her. "Lady, are you still angry?" The lady cursed the monk and demanded him to release her. The monk replied patiently "If I let you off now, you will tell all your friends how mean I am, so I think it's better for you to stay here." The lady continued to curse the monk as the monk left the room for another 2 hours.
The monk came back to visit the lady and asked her the same question. The lady replied "I'm not angry with you, I'm just mad at myself now. Why did I came to find you!". If the lady did not seek the monk, she would not had suffered this treatment. The monk said "You don't understand why you are still angry because you can't even forgive yourself, how could you forgive others?" The monk left the lady again.
Another two hours passed and the monk returned to ask the lady the same question. "I'm not angry anymore, even if I'm angry I can't get out of here" said the lady. "You know that it is useless to be angry, that's good, but that shows that there is still anger within you, why don't you stay here for a little while longer" replied the monk and he left yet again.
Two more hours passed and this time, the monk returned with a pot of tea in his hand as he asked the same question again. The lady answered "Master, it's funny, I don't feel angry now, what is there to be angry about? If I get angry, I am the one suffering from my anger." The monk smiled. He opened the door to set her free and he poured the pot of tea on the floor before leaving. The lady stared at the spilled tea for a while and understood what is anger!
Do you understand what is the message the monk is putting across?
Anger, is just like a cup of tea, you can choose to hold it with you for 8 hours or you could pour it away once you got it. You could choose to drink it too. Anger is something that others passed to you and you had to swallow it. When you ignore it, it will be gone.
