I Mooned Again..

Got a bag full of new toys today... Just had some fun with a effectively 2142 mm focal length lens on the moon tonight. It's actually my trusty old minolta 75-300mm lens with 3 teleconverters attached. Final image may be soft even at f18 but with a bit of post processing, we can still restore the glory of the moon that covers almost 70% of the frame in terms of height. Phew!

Here's the image
DSC02809
Resized to about 20% of the original length (or 4% of the original area)

Don't tell me that the image is over sharpened, I did it on purpose to bring out the details on the moon surface. Besides, I forgot to compensate for the fringe and that contributed a lot to the 'halo' effect you see here. But it's late for me to reprocess this image so make do lar...

Here's the link to the 50% crop (25% of original area), enough for you to make a wallpaper for your monitor out of it. The 100% square crop is around 6 megapixel, and I won't put it here. And I suspect that I'm already stretching the limits for this el-cheapo zoom lens with this image.
