blogging with my phone

my first post with my smart phone. ha ha. a bit to out of tech but still. Trying to get use to tiny QWERTY keyboard. Darn my fingers too big.

DIY a small light tent that serves as a mini studio for small objects. Here's some of the products.

The coffee cans were challenging due to the reflective surfaces. The light source has to be controlled well to minimize the ugly reflections on the cans.
Coffee anyone?

These wooden pegs offer a different challenge compared to the coffee can. You need an even light source on the pegs to illuminate all the mini pegs since they are sort of randomly placed
Random cute stuff from Daiso

Instead of an evenly distributed light on the doggy, here's one with some shadow after a few tries to get the look of my choice.
More toys from Japan, this is a doggy made from Nanoblocks, the small version of lego. It's height is comparable to a AA battery.

The Carl Zeiss lens are the easiest to shoot with. 1 shot and I like the effect already.

Good enough for a 2nd career?

Back to Fundamentals

I haven't blogged as often as I like due to several reasons. One of them is that a significant portion of my free time will be devoted to experiments and research. After all, I have a module to complete and a thesis/report to write before I can graduate with my M.Sc.

Maybe that's why Twitter is getting popular nowadays.

Anyway, I'm doing this module this semester that forces you to build stuff from scratch when you do experiment. It really helps you understand stuff better. Like how to build a microscope from scratch using only objective lens, eye pieces complete with beam splitters, apertures, light source and aligned twin laser beam system to measure velocity using Doppler effect.

Isn't it cool? The journey will be recorded in a wiki site here, check back at the end of the year for the complete work. Nothing like making your own stuff helps you understand how things work better.
